PURPOSE STATEMENT

I think the teacher could come up with a statement as to what the true purpose of the PLPs are.

Example
Personalised learning plans involve each student working with their teacher, their parents or carers to develop a work plan that reflects
  • the student’s learning goals
  • current skills,
  • specific learning targets.
Learning plans are designed to help educators to better know their Aboriginal students

Key questions for developing a PLP

In essence, teachers, working collaboratively with students, parents/family and other support people, construct a PLP for a student by answering four key questions:
  • Where is the student now?
  • Where should the student be?
  • How will they get to where they should be?
  • How will we know when they get there?
PLPs map the pathway that a student needs to follow to achieve learning goals that are comparable with the student population as whole.
PLPs describe a clear destination for the student in terms of goals for learning. They identify the potential obstacles that might impede a student getting to their goals, and chart a course to follow.
